Honouring God: The Gateway To Success
Honouring God: The Gateway To Success
What does it mean to honour God? How can we honour God in our daily lives? And what are the benefits of honouring God? These are some of the questions that many Christians struggle with, especially in a world that often dishonours God and His principles. In this article, we will explore the biblical concept of honouring God, and how it can lead us to success in every area of our lives.
What is Honouring God?
Honouring God means to respect, value, and appreciate Him for who He is and what He has done for us. It also means to obey His commands, to worship Him in spirit and truth, and to give Him glory in everything we do. Honouring God is not just a matter of words or rituals, but a matter of the heart and attitude. Honouring God is a way of living that reflects our love and gratitude for Him.
How Can We Honour God?
There are many ways that we can honour God in our daily lives, but here are some of the most important ones:
Trust in Him. Honouring God means to trust in Him with all our heart and lean not on our own understanding. It means to acknowledge Him in all our ways and let Him direct our paths (Proverbs 3:5-6). Trusting in God means to rely on His wisdom, power, and goodness, and to believe that He has a good plan for our lives.
Love Him. Honouring God means to love Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. It means to delight ourselves in Him and seek His presence. It also means to love others as He loves us, and to show His love through our words and actions (Matthew 22:37-40). Loving God means to have a personal relationship with Him and to grow in intimacy with Him.
Serve Him. Honouring God means to serve Him with all our gifts, talents, and resources. It means to use what He has given us for His glory and His kingdom. It also means to serve others as He serves us, and to be His hands and feet in the world (Matthew 25:31-46). Serving God means to have a purposeful life that fulfills His will and His calling.
Praise Him. Honouring God means to praise Him with all our words, songs, and actions. It means to thank Him for His blessings and His grace. It also means to worship Him in spirit and truth, and to exalt His name above all names (Psalm 150). Praising God means to have a joyful life that celebrates His goodness and His greatness.
What are the Benefits of Honouring God?
Honouring God is not only our duty, but also our privilege. When we honour God, we receive many benefits from Him, such as:
Favour. Honouring God brings us favour from Him and from people. Favour is the unmerited kindness and approval of God that empowers us to do what He has called us to do. Favour also opens doors for us that no one can shut (Proverbs 3:3-4; Luke 2:52).
Protection. Honouring God protects us from harm and evil. Protection is the divine covering and shield of God that keeps us safe from danger. Protection also delivers us from trouble and enemies (Psalm 91; Proverbs 16:7).
Blessing. Honouring God blesses us with abundance and prosperity. Blessing is the supernatural provision and increase of God that meets our needs and desires. Blessing also multiplies what we have and makes us fruitful (Deuteronomy 28:1-14; Malachi 3:10).
Honour. Honouring God honours us with dignity and respect. Honour is the high esteem and recognition of God that elevates us above others. Honour also rewards us for our faithfulness and obedience (1 Samuel 2:30; Proverbs 22:4).
In conclusion, honouring God is the gateway to success in every area of our lives. Honouring God means to respect, value, and appreciate Him for who He is and what He has done for us. Honouring God also means to obey His commands, to worship Him in spirit and truth, and to give Him glory in everything we do. When we honour God, we receive favour, protection, blessing, and honour from Him. Honouring God is not only our duty, but also our privilege.
